Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) PTO is a formal organization that is made up of parents, teachers and school staff. The PTO's goals include volunteerism of parents, support and encouragement of teachers and students alike, community involvement, and interest of students and families. The Annoor Islamic School PTO is a nonprofit parent - teacher organization that includes all interested parents, guardians and staff at Annoor Islamic School. The PTO’s mission is to promote a positive Islamic social environment for our students and open communication and understanding between parents and staff of Annoor Islamic School. Our efforts and activities serve to enhance and maximize the education of every child. The PTO supports Islamic school and family social interaction by allowing time for parents to interact with their child, their child's friends (this gives them the opportunity to get to know who they are, what type of person they are, and family they have), the parent of their child's friends, and their own friends, and provides a neutral atmosphere for sharing information on issues that impact our children. It is our belief that the team effort of a parent-teacher organization offers the best possible Islamic social environment for our children. PTO Board/Executive Committee: PTO generally is a board. These members include a president, vice president/treasurer and secretary. It also includes specialty positions, such as a parent representative and a teacher/staff representative. The board governs the PTO by creating meeting dates, and voting on programs to be held. Election Procedures: Nominations are received in March (typically after Spring Break).Elections are done in April (typically mid month).Announcement of the new elected officers are announced in May. How you can get involved: Parents: PTO parents can get involved by supporting the students, teachers and staff. Parents can volunteer to be room parents to assist with class parties or field trips. They can help set up and take down at events. They can volunteer to help teachers and staff by making copies for the class and working one on one with students. Teachers and Staff: Teachers and staff can get involved by helping to plan events that encourage the education of the students. These may include workshops, quizzes or special family nights (game, movie, reading). Students: The students benefit by the involvement and support of all the adults involved in the PTO. The PTO supports the educational and other goals of the school, therefore extending those goals to the students.
